Main Applications of Glass Fiber Continuous Mat and Chopped Strand Mat

 

Glass Fiber Continuous Filament Mat is a new type of glass fiber non-woven reinforced substrate for composite materials. It is made of continuous glass fibers randomly distributed in a ring shape, combined with a small amount of adhesive by the mechanical action between the original wire rings, referred to as Continuous Filament Mat.

Pultrusion Profiles.

Pultrusion process and pultrusion products are a kind of FRP molding method and FRP products with broad development prospects due to their closed mold production, no pollution to the environment, good dimensional stability, and no scraps. However, pultrusion products have a biggest drawback, that is, the radial strength is very high, while the circumferential strength is very small and easy to crack.

The application of Continuous Filament Mat as a circumferential reinforcement material can make up for its shortcomings. Therefore, Continuous Mat is an indispensable reinforcement material for pultrusion profiles.

 

RTMVI Process.

Because Continuous Filament Mat has high bonding strength, high fluffy porosity, moderate resin permeability and good scouring resistance, it is widely used in the RTM process to produce FRP doors and windows, wind turbine bases and other accessories.

 

Automotive Interior Parts.

Continuous Filament Mat is mainly used for sun visors, rear window trims, spare tire covers and fenders. Because of its high strength and good decorative effect, it has been widely used in Mercedes, Benz, BMW and other models.

 

Dry-type Transformers.

The main application of dry-type transformers is the same as that of glass fiber chopped felt, but continuous felt is stronger than chopped felt. In occasions and products with high strength requirements, glass fiber continuous felt must be used. Many domestic dry-type transformer manufacturers use continuous felt.

 

Glass Fiber Chopped Strand Mat is a reinforcing material made by cutting glass fiber raw yarn into chopped fibers of a certain length and bonding them with powder binders or emulsion binders.

Car Roof and Interior.

The car roof interior is basically made of 100g and 150g thin felt. Some well-known domestic and foreign automobile companies have adopted it in large quantities. Such as BMW, Audi, Honda, Volkswagen, Nissan, etc.

 

Insulating Material for Dry-type Transformers.

Dry-type transformers have excellent performance, good safety and good energy-saving effect. It is a new type of transformer and the development direction of transformers. The application of alkali-free glass fiber chopped strand mat solves the cracking problem caused by the different stress between the winding conductor and the insulating material caused by thermal expansion and contraction, which has plagued the industry, and promotes the development of dry-type transformers. Dry-type transformers have been widely used in aerospace, subway, nuclear power, airports, large buildings, and the Three Gorges and Xiaolangdi Water Conservancy Projects.

 

Sanitary Ware.

The felt for sanitary ware is basically more than 200g of glass fiber chopped strand mat. Due to the good uniformity and good coating of the felt, it has been widely used in the field of sanitary ware.

It is used in many fields such as chemical anti-corrosion pipelines, storage tanks, yachts, ships, seats, building structures, automotive panels, wind power blades, etc.
